$75
German metal carriage clock, nickel plated, some of the
front and the back is brass with pressed designs all over.
With handle raised it is 7" tall, near
perfect case but does show a little
wear. It has all the components, a
music box that plays when it reaches
the set alarm time. It is running and
the music plays on cue. Key in the
slot on the door. The nickeled move-
ment
is
signed,
"Mauthe-
Germany". The dial shows their
trademark and is signed, "Made In
Germany". $100-$200.

$75
German metal carriage clock, identical to #665, except
this case is painted black where the other was nickeled.
Front and back are brass, dial and
movement signed the same, it is run-
ning, alarming, music playing on cue.
Perhaps a tad nicer than #665, proba-
bly because the black paint looks so
nice. $100-$200.

$100
German wag, 8 day movement, two weight chain pull
movement. Wood plates, brass gears, brass pendulum,
old chains, and a pair of old cuckoo
weights. Back is removable, front is
hinged, two hinged side doors,
black paint on finials, ornaments,
and case edges, otherwise the natur-
al walnut wood. One chain is off the
sprocket, I had no time to reinstall it,
therefore the picture does not show
the two chains and the two weights.
Bowed porcelain dial is perfect,
hands are original, brass bezel around
the dial. The case is 20" tall, excluding
the pendulum and weights. $150-$250.

Ansonia Brass & Copper Co. mantle clock, "Sharp
Gothic", ca 1874. This is a nice example of an early
steeple clock. 20" high mahogany veneered case is not
bad overall, just a few nicks on the bottom
board. I could have stained the one
chip you see in the picture and it
would not be noticed. Almost every-
thing is original, including the
finials, painted bottom glass, top
glass, painted dial, alarm movement
and iron bell, and the one day move-
ment that strikes on a coil gong.
Complete paper label inside,
replaced pendulum bob is not cor-
rect, and the hands are not correct.
Ly-Ansonia #1740. $100-$200.

$150
French porcelain clock with some bronze decorations
attached to the front, including the piece across the bot-
tom that encompasses the feet. It is a
very attractive pink and blue case
standing 9.25" high, castle and
river scene on the bottom, flow-
ers and gold decorations on the
top and sides. A bead of gold
paint is around the case front,
and extending to the back in 6
places. It has a nice bronze sash,
beveled glass, old French hands,
painted flowers on the porcelain dial. There is a small
hairline between the 11 and 12. The original metal
hinged back door has cutouts and is cloth covered on
the inside. 8 day movement is signed, "Japy Freres",
strikes a standing Cathedral gong on the half hours, and
has what appears to be the original pendulum. The case
has normal wear, spider webs on the porcelain which is
common, and overall is a nice little decorator's clock.
$200-$300.

New Haven Clock Co. porcelain clock, "Penola", ca
1900. Small mantle or dresser clock,
only 8.5" high and wide. White on
the front and back, pink on the top
and sides, painted bouquets of
flowers and gold highlights
around the case front edges, and
flowers painted on the top and
sides. Imported case is clean
and free of any breaks or cracks,
has the original back cover, knurled
sash and glass over the signed paper dial, original
hands, and has a balance, one day, time only movement.
Ly-New Haven #2004. $100-$200.

$25
Wm. L. Gilbert Clock Co. porcelain cased clock,
"May", ca 1904. A miniature case, stands only 7.5"
high, colors are cobalt blue and white,
painted flowers on the front, top,
and sides. The back of the case is
signed, "May". Being a very
astute clock professional, I
notice that the dial does not have
the alarm feature, the metal back
is a poor replacement, and has
knobs for time only. The cata-
logs show this model had an
alarm feature. Also, underneath
there was a hole in the case, made that way, but Bubba
filled in the hole so I could not see the movement. I
don't know what is inside the case, so I just now low-
ered the minimum from $75 to $25. It is a nice original
case. Ly-Gilbert #1564. $25-$50.

E. Ingraham & Co., hanging shop clock, "Western
Union", ca 1911. The clock is identical to the one pic-
tured in Ly-Ingraham #293, except
the hands. Even the glass which I
thought was surely a replacement
is identical. The pendulum, dial,
both glasses, the 8 day time only
movement, is all correct and origi-
nal. The old solid oak case is pretty
black from smoke and there has
been no attempt to clean it off.
The case is 36" high, complete, and
all original. There is a pair of hands
in the case, (no calendar hand) but I
could not make them fit, so you will
definitely need to install some
hands. Ly-Ingraham #293. $200-
$350.

$75
English art deco tambour/mantle clock. An odd shaped
case, very different yet an attractive
walnut case. It has inlays around
the front, case rests on feet
that go from front to back on
each side. The case is 13.5"
wide and 9.5" high, clean
and complete, some minor
soiled places where hands
have rubbed. Silver sash,
bowed glass, silver dial ring, ring signed "Foreign", and
hands are original. Hinged wooden back door. The
movement plates are certainly different, mottled
designs all over, unsigned, but complete and plays
Westminster chimes on five iron rods. Correct pendu-
lum bob in the case. $100-$200.

$50
Tape Measure Clock. Notice the wire cage and bird on
top of the regular "Tape Measure" clock. I have never
seen this model before. I would assume
the bird moves a little as the clock
ticks. I feel sure there is no music or
noise involved. I wound the thing
underneath and lost two fingers. The
click will need attention before you
can wind it, or you will be three fin-
gered also. With the handle up the
clock is 7.5" tall. Condition is not
bad, as tape measure clocks go.
Signed only, "Made In U.S.A." $75-
$150.

Ansonia Clock Co. Royal Bonn porcelain cased clock,
"La Cruz", ca 1904. A rich looking
clock decorated in New Art Tints,
green, apple green, ruby, yellow,
white, and other tints, all over the
case. Painted flowers on all of the
sides and front, splashes of gold
highlights all around. The case is
11.5" tall, clean as a pin, has no
breaks, cracks, hairlines, etc. On
the back is the red Royal Bonn
trademark and the name "La
Cruz" etched into the case before
it was kiln fired. The sash and
glass are ordinary, original hands, metal decoration in
the dial center, and the signed paper dial that is show-
ing some wear. The 8 day movement is signed, strikes
half hours on a gong, has the correct pendulum bob and
metal back cover. Ly-Ansonia, page 632. $250-$400.

Seth Thomas Clock Co. "Drop Octagon 10 Inch", ca
1898. Oak case is 21" high, the grain of the oak is dif-
ferent than what we normally see.
The grain is going in straight
lines and it seems to have
grooves in the grain. Good
glasses, brass bob, brass bezel,
correct hands, and the original
8 day time only movement.
There is a good paper label
inside and on the back is the
stamp put on at the factory,
"C8981". The painted dial pan is
signed several ways and has some
good touchup paint on a couple of
spots. Ly-Seth Thomas, pages 355-
357. $150-$250.

$75
Seth Thomas Clock Co. mantle clock with a black
adamantine finish with mot-
tled green and orange top
and layers of the same
mottled adamantine below
the adamantine onyx
columns. Etched designs
along the base, gilt
metal feet and orna-
ments, and a special
bezel and beveled glass
they seldom used on the adamantine clocks. The old
signed dial paper has darkened, metal dial center, and
the original pair of hands. Correct metal back door,
almost a complete paper label on the back, signed 8 day
movement striking half hours on a brass bell and hours
on a Cathedral gong. The movement has not been
cleaned in some time but it is running and striking. The
original pendulum bob is in the case. All those good
points said, the case has not been cleaned, there is some
light wear and bruises on the adamantine, and all the
metal ornaments have lost any gilt they may have had.
I do not find this particular clock listed in Ly-Seth
Thomas, but it is similar to many. The case is 17" wide
and 11.5" high. $150-$300.
