E. Ingraham & Co. banjo, "Waring", ca 1923.
Mahogany finished case is 40" tall, has decorated pan-
els, wood side rails, and a large wood finial.
Brass bezel and bowed glass over the nice
signed dial. Correct hands, pendulum, gong
rod, and 8 day movement. It strikes half
hours and hours on the long iron rod. The
only fault I see is the bezel. It was cleaned
with a solution that removed the finish
leaving the bezel a copper color. Ly-New
Haven #219. Booked for $400 ten years
ago. $200-$300.

E. N. Welch Mfg. Co. made for Hibbard, Spencer,
Bartlett & Co. and pictured in their 1890 sales catalog
at a wholesale price of $2.25. They
were Chicago's leading hardware
store beginning in the 1880's. No
doubt a similar situation as the
clocks made for the wringer com-
panies, American Wringer, and
Colby Wringer. The walnut case is
22.5" high,a typical well made
Welch case with very nice case
designs. There are grooves and
etched designs, top to bottom,
case is clean, polished, and ready
to put into operation. The move-
ment is 8 day, signed, running, and strikes a
Cathedral gong. Nice Welch cast pendulum, polished
gong base and dial rings. Original painted dial is very
nice, has very few paint chips, and the hands are cor-
rect. It has a very nice original glass. See Ehrhardt's
book, "Clock Identification and Price Guide", page
163. $250-$350.

E. Ingraham Clock Co. oak kitchen clock, "Detroit", ca
1900. The oak case is 23.5"
high, has been cleaned and pol-
ished, and looks very nice. It has
none of the black smoke in the
cracks that we normally see on
this type clock. Unusual and
original glass tablet, "Time Is
Money". Old dial has oil stains
and may not even be original.
Correct pendulum, hands, gong,
and the alarm with its bell. The
thermometer is probably an
addition and you may want to
remove it. The level on the bot-
tom is original to the case. 8 day
movement is signed, running, and everything perform-
ing properly. About half of the original label remains on
the back showing it was made by Ingraham. $150-
$250.

shades of veneer used however not done helter skelter,
but matching where it should
be. Veneer is good except for
one piece missing on the
base/side. Door mirror is a
replacement,
paper
dial
replaced, gold around glasses
and on the columns has been
touched up. 8 day heavy duty
lyre movement, strikes a gong,

Advertising gallery clock by the Pam Clock Co. They
tell me the symbol on the dial is that of
the Knights Templar. I am not sure.
The metal case has a large bowed
glass over the dial, neon tube
behind the dial, good electric
cord, on/off switch at the bottom,
and a removable back. $200-$300.

Waterbury Clock Co. metal cased clock, "Sardis", ca
1906. The clock is 11" high, all original including the
porcelain panel below the dial. The panel
painting is a young lady and two cupids.
If the finish on the metal is original it is
excellent, but if it was redone it was a
long time ago and finished with a
dull gold/brass finish. The 8 day
time only lever movement has
been serviced and is running.
Porcelain dial with a brass center,
beveled glass, and the dial is
signed, "Waterbury Clock Co.
U.S.A.". Winding knobs on the
back are original. The back plate
is signed the same as the dial and
there are several patent dates list-
ed. Ly-Waterbury #1234. $250-$350.

E. Ingraham Clock Co. hanging clock, "Ionic", ca
1911. The cases on this model were
made of rosewood and are 22" high.
It has a very unusual pendulum
bob, doubtful it came with this
clock, but the bob is very nice. No
label, dial has been repainted and
now the black paint is smeared
over the dial. Both glasses may be
replacements, but the bottom glass
could be original, just touched up.
Putty covered with new black paint
which usually is a giveaway. The
rosewood case is very nice, has two
original door latches, correct hands, 8 day
time only movement that is running, so all is not bad.

"Extra / Clocks / Manufactured By / Henry C. Smith, /
Plymouth, Conn.", ca 1833-1845. Column and splat
wood works shelf clock is exceptional-
ly clean and typical of the
clocks we have been buying
from the New York collector.
Not to say he was above putting
in a replaced glass if it needed
one, but practically all of his
clocks are "collector" ready. The
ship glass has a thin piece of old
wood backing it. Super nice wood
dial, period hands and iron
weights, near perfect paper label,
original putty around the top glass,
faint stenciling on the half
columns, fair stenciling on the
splat, good chimneys and returns. Original
top glass has the largest bubbles I have seen in old
glass. 30 hour wood movement is complete and opera-
ble, striking on an iron bell. Period brass bob and wind
crank inside. Very nice inexpensive shelf clock. $150-
$250.

15" case is made of synthetic wood, has a
wood pendulum, and a pair of typical
metal cuckoo weights. The clock is
running, the bird emerges from
behind the door and cuckoos on the
half hour and hours. The case is
complete, no breaks or other prob-
lems, original hands, numerals, back
door and gong, and the 30 hour
movement. On the back is a near per-
fect paper label. Ly-American Clocks,
Volume 3, #709. $250-$350.

$200
French comptoise bakers clock, ca 1880. Overall the
clock is in very good condition, there are no age cracks
that we so often see in this type con-
struction. The frame has deep
grooves, the finish is mottled
brown on top, black in the
grooves. The case is 24" high,
18.5" wide, and has the original
glass. Behind the glass are
many designs made with
Mother Of Pearl and inlaid
brass. Good painted dial, a few
tiny paint flakes beginning to show,
and the hands look to be original. The
8 day movement is typical for this type
clock, held in place with long pins, striking on a coil
gong. The only thing not authentic is the pendulum bob,
it is not the type we generally see in the bakers clocks.
$250-$400.
