French mantle clock, ca 1880. This large brass case is
19" tall, sitting on 4 feet, swags on the sides, full
columns in the front, and a large urn on
top. The case is clean, has a very nice
finish, and should need nothing
before reselling or putting it in your
home. The 8 day movement is
signed, "A.D.Mougin", has an out-
side count wheel and strikes on a
bell. Hinged back door, brass
sash with beveled glass, and a
French pendulum inside. The
dial is cast brass, cartouche
numerals,
correct
hands,
French sash and beveled glass,
all in superior condition.
Everything is very detailed and
there are things stuck every-
where. I just noticed that two
sea serpents are holding/sur-
rounding the urn top, and on the base is a bust of a very
unhappy God of something. This is a lot of clock, may
be worth more by the pound. $400-$600.

French mantle clock, ca 1880. Another 8 day French
movement, signed again by, "A.D.Mougin". This one
has the outside count wheel but strikes
on a standing gong. The brass case is
18" tall, complete, has a good finish,
and clean enough that you will not
need to do anything except enjoy it.
The solid brass back is checker
boarded, hinged solid brass back
door, and a French pendulum.
The cast case is solid brass, there
is nothing that I can say is a fish
or a person, just vines and flowers
and odd looking things. French
sash, beveled glass, excellent
one piece porcelain dial with
painted numerals and a colorful
painted cupid. The French hands
are original. Another very nice
brass clock. $300-$500.

Seth Thomas Sons & Co. metal mantle clock No.8011,
ca 1872. A metal clock that might have had a bronze
finish when it came out of the facto-
ry. Someone wanted this clock to
have a more heavenly look so
they painted it white and deco-
rated some parts with gold
paint. I admit they did a great
job, and I must say it is very
appealing. A died in the wool
collector may want to strip
the white off and return it
to original. The case is
17" tall and is complete
except for a tip of one
of the angel's fingers.
Large beveled glass over the one
piece porcelain dial, some light wear and the usual tiny
chips around the winding arbors. These clocks were
made with a French style round movement, running 15
day, pendulum in the case, but is missing the bell. The
bell stand and hammer are intact, the movement is
signed and running. Ly-Seth Thomas #3226. $300-
$500.

New Haven Clock Co. "Chime No.4", ca 1911. They
made several variations of the Chime No.4, both in the
style of the case and position of the movements in the
case. This clock is 100% correct, a solid
mahogany case standing 20", medium
dark from natural aging plus a lit-
tle smoke and it has a crusty fin-
ish. 4 original finials on top, 4
brass bun feet underneath, bead
molding around the top, and
some ripple like molding around
the base, and other bead moldings
on the four corners of the front.
American sash and beveled glass
over the plastic dial and correct
hands. Note the chime/silent
lever on the right side of the
case. Complete paper label on the back door with direc-
tions for setting up the clock. The label says, in part,
"The New Haven Clock Co., / New Haven, Conn. /
Patented in Unit ed Kingdom of Great Britain and
Ireland". The chime movement is signed, "Wilcock /
Patd in Canada / Patent Appl.U.S.A.". The 8 day move-
ment and chime movement are operating properly, and
a pendulum and key are inside. Ly-New Haven, pages
95-96. $350-$500.

Ansonia Clock Co. "10-Inch Kobe", ca 1901. Mosaic
construction on the front, looks to made of walnut
wood. The sides are to be false
grained, two door hooks, and near
perfect bottom glass. The painted
metal dial is also near perfect,
hardly any wear anywhere, and
it is signed. The case is 21.5"
high, original, very clean and
nice top to bottom. You will no
doubt find a bump or bruise some-
where on the case. Correct pendu-
lum, signed gong base with
Cathedral gong, and the 8 day brass
movement that is running and strik-
ing the gong on half hours. Not per-
fect, there is no label, but the clock is
very nice. Ly-Ansonia, page 209. $400-$600.

Gustav Becker two weight Vienna Regulator.
Movement is ca 1924, serial number
#2090848, the walnut case is fairly
new. Someone did a bang up job
making the 46" high walnut case.
Has half columns on the door,
tapered tail, broken arch top piece,
and three glasses. One of the side
glasses has a crack. The large two
piece porcelain dial is near perfect,
has the Becker logo, seconds dial
and hand, and two very nice Vienna
hands. Brass dial rings, brass pul-
leys, brass pendulum, are all shin-
ing bright. Inside is an old winding
key. The 8 day movement is seat
board mounted, sliding into mount-
ing blocks. It is running, has
maintaining power, and striking
on a long iron rod. This is a very nice
clock and you must agree the minimum
makes it affordable. $400-$600.

Ansonia Clock Co. hanging oak kitchen clock, their
"Mexico" model ca 1904. There are two paper labels on
the back, over half still in place. The labels
indicate this clock was made for, or
sold to, the Metropolitan Mfg. Co.
Ansonia does not have a label on
the back but they were not bashful
about putting their name on the
movement, gong base, and dial.
Everything is straight on the clock,
movement, dial, pendulum, tablet,
gong, alarm movement, and alarm
brass bell. If you have read our cat-
alogs over the years you know that
several companies made clocks for
the wringer company's and others.
From the best we can determine
Metropolitan was a city representative
and warehousing facility for the Connecticut clock
firms and others. This 27" oak case is clean as a pin and
needs no apologies for anyone would be proud to hang
it in their home. They do not come any nicer. Ly-
Ansonia #1866. $300-$500.

$200
German wall clock, a 30 day movement with calendar.
Housed in an ebony painted wood case, the black paint
is original and in very good condition. It has a one piece
porcelain dial, original hands, and a gold band around
the dial. The background around the
calendar rolls is also painted
black. A label on the inside of
the backboard gives instruc-
tions for the clocks operation,
in four languages. There are
many names on the label,
some partial, some complete,
none that I can identify. The
solid plate brass movement is
unsigned, at least on the back
plate. It is time only and runs
for 30 days. All the rolls for the
calendar are in the German lan-
guage and the rolls are in very good condition. The cal-
endar movement is not perpetual and is changed by
turning the knobs on the side of the case. An old pen-
dulum bob and key are inside. $250-$400.

Seth Thomas Clock Co. mantle clock, "Eclipse", or
"Balltop", ca 1890. Excellent walnut case
is 24" high, very clean inside and
outside and appears to be all orig-
inal with one exception. The pre-
vious collector, for whatever
reason, put a clear plastic dial
on the outside of the glass,
which gives it a 3D effect. I
should have peeled it off but I
thought you may like to see the
interesting effect it gives. Label
inside is very nice, new paper dial
on the old pan, correct hands,
key, and the correct Eclipse pen-
dulum. The movement is 8 day,
clean, signed, running, and strik-
ing the gong. The clock also has an alarm that
rings on a brass bell. Ly-Seth Thomas #2463. $250-
$350.
